Make a Cool and Colorful Backpack Clip
Kids will love starting the school year off with these super cool and easy to make backpack clips. I was even surprised when my 14 year old niece wanted one to give to a friend. (I guess my ideas are hipper than I thought!)
To make these backpack clips we used colorful buttons and star shaped pony beads from our local craft store, but any colorful pony beads and buttons will work fine. For an extra fun element, we added these crazy critter buttons. I was surprised to find such a huge variety of fun buttons at the craft store.
In addition to the beads and buttons, you will also need: Braiding string (found in the kids craft section on Wal-Mart) Colorful clips Book rings
1) Start with an 8 inch piece of braiding string. If you would like to have several strings of beads and buttons on your clip, cut 2 more pieces at varying lengths (7 inches and 6 inches worked for us). 2) Tie the longest string onto the clip and start stringing with your colorful beads. Leave about 2 -3 inches at the end without beads so you have enough string left to tie to your book ring.
3) After your finished with your longest string, tie a bead to the end of the other two strings. Begin stringing beads and buttons, again leaving room at the end to tie onto the book ring.4) When your kids are happy with their design, tie all three strings onto the book ring. And you're done.
Super easy! Some kids just like to decorate their backpacks, while we like using ours for notes or reminders. (Did Caitlin forget her lunch money again?)
My kids have even started to add several to their backpacks and make some for their friends. Now they can collect and trade them to change up the look of the backpacks.
So have fun and get creative!
